Can I trust AI to proofread my work?
AI is quick, and it finds a lot of mistakes. It can also miss things, or change a word it should have left alone.
If your name is on the document, you carry that risk. So we let one of our editors check the AI’s work before you send it. Proofed is a human proofreading company, and our editors do this every day.
How does a human review work?
A Proofed editor checks your document for $60 per 1,000 words. You pay for the exact number of words, so a 3,420-word report costs $205.20.
When you upload, turn on Human review and pay by card. Our AI proofreads your document first. Then a trained Proofed editor reads it and the AI’s changes, fixes what the AI got wrong or missed, and sends you the final file.

What will I get back?
You get your own file back. We mark each change where we made it and add a short note to say why.

Send documents from your own tools
You can email us a file or send it from your own software through our API. You can also ask Claude, Cursor or another AI assistant to send it through our MCP server. Read the API documentation.

Does a real person check my document?
Only if you ask. Turn on Human review when you upload. An editor at Proofed then checks the AI’s work and sends you the final file.
How much does a human review cost?
It costs $60 per 1,000 words. You pay for the exact number of words, so a 3,420-word report costs $205.20. You pay by card when you ask for it.
How long does a human review take?
The editor sends your document back within 24 hours. If you use our API, we can call your webhook when the file comes back.
Can I see what the AI changed?
Yes. We mark every change in your file and add a short note to each one. You keep the changes you agree with and reject the rest.
Will you change what I meant?
No. A proofread fixes mistakes and leaves your wording alone.
How much does it cost?
Your first 10 tokens are free. After that you pay 1 token for every 1,000 words, and every document costs at least 1 token. A fact-check costs 2 tokens per 1,000 words.
Which files can I send?
You can send Word, PDF, PowerPoint, OpenDocument, HTML, EPUB, RTF and plain text files up to 96 MB. We send back your own file with the changes marked.
Can I send documents by email?
Yes. Email the file from the address on your account.
